Actually hiphop music was at first performed by the dj’s, the mc’s came after, they originally were only there to cheer up the crowd to the music a bit -> Master of Ceremony. Now compare the peace message of the zulu nation with the hip hop videos nowadays… Can you see the gap?For me, hiphop went down when the business of music understood how much money they could get from this music… Violence and sex is what sells in our societies, and hiphop nowadays is just the reflection of that fact.

u right alexisdolphins, hip hop is not just music, it never was only music. Hip Hop is a whole movement, music is just a part of it, its also the way u dress, talk, dance, etc.. It was based on the ideas of the zulu nation back in the 70’s to get black people and generally ghetto people together, fighting against the violence in the ghettos.

for real. hip hop is not even music any more its a generation. the way we act, think, feel. the people that talk smack about it are the biggest contributors in hip hop..

@STLEO1 Only commercial hip hop is dead. And really, only commercial hip hop from the last decade. There are plenty of folks out there still doing it. Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Crown City Rockers, Five Deez.
